PROCESS ENGINEER
The position is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and improving the manufacturing processes of surfactant products.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Process Engineering
Manages the EPR process. Conducts Experimental Production Request ( EPR ) runs for new products and special runs :
- Coordinates with R & D, Production, Quality Assurance and Maintenance regarding runs of new products or processes.
- Prepares operating guideline and game plan.
- Prepares operating guideline and game plan.Prepares checklist to ensure order in the duration of the run.
- Orients Production Team Leader ,Process Specialist(s), QA Analyst(s) regarding the conduct of the EPR / P-Com and the operating guideline.
- Supervises the experimental run ( ie. operating parameters, laboratory analysis, and meeting specifications ) .
- Coordinates with the Plant Manager, Production Manager, Production Team Leader, QA Team Leader, & Process Specialists if necessary adjustments will be made.
Prepares and conducts P-Com for the following
- Product specification change
- Product name change
- Product manufacturing changes ( optimization changes )
- Product composition changes
- Technology transfer ( qualification of a new production site for an existing technology)
- Raw material changes ( approval of a new manufacturer for an existing raw materials.
- Packaged product changes
- Hazard classification change
Ensures the implementation of SPC system by ::
- Ensures that the critical process parameters are entered in the NWA Program.
- Conducts evaluation of SPC parameters.
- Checks process parameters if the operating limits ( PLC logsheet) are met. Evaluates process parameters as necessary.
Reactor Cleaning
- Leads in the implementation of the cleaning procedure of the reactor 16R1 and ensures that the cleaning is done in accordance with the work instruction.
Leads in the rootcause analysis if deviations in the process / product analysis are observed.
Program Development
- Develops / prepares ISO System Procedures, Quality Plans and Work Instructions for new products and reviews / improves current procedures.
- Monitors closely the restricted inventory.
- Reclassifies monthly restricted inventory generation ( inherent and and not inherent ) and defines the causes of major contributors to restricted grade materials.
- Submits monthly summary report to the Plant Manager, Production Manager and Accounting.
- Coordinates with Sales / Safety / Accounting regarding the disposal of restricted materials.
- Acts as PIRA (product integrity risk assessment) and PQBP (product quality best practices) coordinator.
Special/ Ad-Hoc Duties and Responsibilities. Acts as Internal Quality Audit Head
Process Improvement
- Acts as mentor to Sulfonation & Gas Plant Workgroup and the Dryer Workgroup.
- Works with Production Manager / Process Specialists to identify opportunities for Manufacturing Process Improvement.
- Assists workgroups in developing ideas to reduce batch cycle times and increase product yields .
- Production Assistance
- Accommodates inquiries related to plant/ process operations.
- Participates in cleaning and monitoring good housekeeping in areas of responsibility.
- Provides troubleshooting assistance to operators during process upsets.
- Provides training to operators on new process start-ups .
- Works with Production Team Leader in the implementation of ISO requirements.
- Assists in ISO audits and customer audit.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities that maybe assigned from time to time.
Environment, Health & Safety
- Complies with Company’s safety rules, regulations and procedures.
- Participates in the Process Safety Management ( PHA, PSSR, HAZOP, JSA, ).
- Participates in the plant SO2/SO3 standard evaluation.
- Prepares Management of Change ( MOC) and follows up issues / action items raised during MOC process and work closely with Safety and Maintenance % Engineering to close MOCs in a timely manner.
- Prepares / reviews equipment categorization for SO2/SO3 & related system as per PSM requirement.
- Attends monthly safety meetings.
- Promotes and performs housekeeping during EPR’s and P-Com runs and minimizes generation of non-conforming products.
- Participates actively in the SOS program of the plant.
Education. Graduate of any four- or five-year college course, preferably engineering
Relevant Experience. At least two (2) years relevant experience in a similar setup
Certificates, Licenses, Registration. Must be a Licensed Chemical Engineer
Working Conditions. Willing to be assigned at the plant located at San Pascual, Batangas
