Job Description

The Finite Scheduler is accountable for the site finite production scheduling of all Master Schedules provided by Corporate Supply Planning Group (PPIC).   Accountable for managing data collection to prepare and align production schedules based on inventory levels, capacity utilization, and customer demand.  Integrates with raw materials team, site production units and maintenance to ensure production and maintenance resources are aligned to support the schedule on a weekly and daily basis.   

Responsibilities includes but are not limited to:
•    Coordinates with Production, Corporate Supply Planning, Logistics and other key internal stakeholders to exchange / provide information and ideas to develop scheduling plans that maximize efficiency and productivity to meet customer requirements
•     Participates in planning and establishing overall production objectives based on customer demand and sales forecasts.  Leads weekly meetings to review planned schedule.  
•    Create weekly production schedule based on customer demand and production capacity that maximizes production efficiency while minimizing raw material, work-in-process (WIP) inventory, changeover costs, etc 
•    Leads Management Operating System (MOS) meetings to ensure next weeks "plan" and next days "schedule" are ready for execution
•    Maintains site finite production schedules on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis 
•    Analyzes and identifies risks associated with the options built into the production schedule. Identify gaps and drive solutions
•     Maintains various reporting systems for ensuring that documentation is accurate and timely, which includes downtime, peak production, inventory accuracy, on-time shipment, capacity (for sales) and scheduling accuracy
•    Continuously monitors production through short-internal controls (i.e. prodution unit wal-throughs, monitoring of raw material utilization and scrap, etc.) to identify and/or anticipate potential barriers to completion of orders as planned
•    Troubleshoots and facilitate corrective actions improving SAP data entry accuracy and monitors production reporting in SAP (Process Orders), address inventory issues, Out of Balance orders and cycle time variance issues
•    Supports analysis of plant capacity data studies and makes independent observations and recommendations of production specifications
•     Support customer audits regarding ISO and SAP topics and participates in internal and external ISO audits


•    Minimum of 5 years of related experience 
•    Demonstrated expertise in interpreting production plans and job orders and triangulating with asset capacity, materials availability, etc. 
•    Familiarity with inventory, warehouse management and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
•    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret production reports, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
•    Understanding of batch and continuous chemical processes required to produce all Stepan manufacturing products





•    Bachelor’s degree preferred or Equivalent work experience.
