Business Development Manager

We are seeking a Business Development Manager, Biocides who will be responsible for managing activities related to growing and delivering business performance for their business unit. Focus will include driving expansion and growth of targeted product lines as well as developing new business based on market knowledge and adjacent segments. This role requires up to 30% travel.

Functional Responsibilities:
Business Development Leadership:
Lead Business Development Activities across the Organization to drive growth. Set Goals and Priorities, Identify / Assess Adjacencies, Build Business Cases (including white papers) for Product Portfolio Expansion / New Market Entry, ensure appropriate systems and resources are in place to Manage Growth Opportunities to meet strategic targets, Provide Commercial Prioritization for R&D Resources, Direct external marketing and internal product line training programs.  Provide presentations to senior management. Participate as the commercial or marketing SME for Innovation and joint development projects with responsibility for delivering the commercial objectives.
 
Market Dynamics:
Responsible for understanding and communicating trends, activities, competitors, customer needs, regulatory issues, etc.  (e.g. Market Growth Rates, Competitive capacities, Competitive product line portfolios, etc.) Integrate that knowledge into effective product strategies. Participate in industry trade organizations and shows.  Research new customer/market needs and technologies for development into business opportunities that can be part of our innovation portfolio. Conduct market research to gain understanding of market dynamics including future opportunities, value drivers and competition.
 
External Focus:
Develop senior and mid-level relationships at key external customers, suppliers and other key industry contacts. Support Sales / Marketing at customers to drive growth.  Ensure external and internal customer requirements are being met.
 
Strategy for Growth:

Development, approval, and execution of regional, product line specific, three to five-year plans, consistent with the Global Corporate Plan, including long term technology, product portfolio raw material and marketing strategies (multi-generational product strategy). Identify new customer and market needs and/or new technologies to support the business strategy. Active participation on strategic project teams as well as regional and global business teams to insure leveraging technology and market opportunities across all regions.
 

Qualifications

  • Biocides experience preferred
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment.
  • Self-starter with the ability to identify and proactively resolve business issues.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving skills, metrics-driven and process-oriented.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and continuous process improvement mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • 5-8 years required, 10+ years preferred
  • Technical background such as Chemical Engineering or Chemistry required.

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
