Utilities Specialist I

Job Description

The position is responsible for the safe, reliable operation of the waste water treatment plant, Boiler System, Fire Water System, Cooling Tower, and Boiler Water Softening/Reverse Osmosis systems. The position is also responsible for equipment, facility maintenance and the implementation of preventive maintenance program in mechanical, instrument and electrical equipment. 
Operates and controls the waste water, the boiler, fire water system, cooling tower systems PM, and boiler water softening/reverse osmosis system; monitors utilities parameters, and make necessary adjustments on valves and other means of control. 

Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings and tests results to determine load requirements. Implement corrective actions in case of utility operation abnormality  

Conducts inventory and monitors the usage of WWTP materials, industrial salts, anti-corrosion, boiler system and other utilities chemicals, and generates PR when re-ordering volume is met and follow-up delivery to the supplier. 

Supervises contractor’s activities especially during maintenance shutdown and other PM works. 

Reviews and analyze contractors test results (Water Analysis, etc. ) and implement recommended corrective action. Coordinate with 3rd party contractor to ensure a reliable and safe operation of Utility equipment. 

Conducts boiler and water necessary chemical laboratory analysis. 

Prepares pumps and other equipment; controls flow of raw waste water through filtering, settling, aeration, and sludge digestion processes. 

Maintains log of operations and records meter and gauge readings. 

Determine and implement preventive maintenance program needed for the reliable operation of the Utility systems.  

Conducts operation analysis. Calculate boiler efficiency and generate actions to improve reliability of the system. 

Collects waste water and utility samples and conducts laboratory tests such as chemical oxygen demand, total suspended solid, pH, temperature, etc. 

Conduct repair/trouble-shooting of equipment related to the operation of WWTP and other utility systems. 

Conducts inventory on all materials needed in the Waste Water Treatment Plant, and utility systems. 

Cleans and maintains the Waste Water Treatment Plant and utilities areas. Conducts cleaning of trenches, surge tank, etc. and ensures proper cleaning and disposal of sludge and other waste materials. 

Coordinates with Process Specialist and implements waste minimization procedures during washing. 

Plan and Coordinate to the plant team regarding Utilities shutdown schedule and maintenance. Generate maintenance shutdown schedule activities. 

Submits necessary environmental related monthly report to EHS&S Manager and other utility operation related reports to  Maintenance Manager.

Qualifications

At least one year relevant experience. 

Registered Mechanical Engineer

Education

Graduate of vocational/technical course (Mechanical / Instrument) and/or Mechanical Engineering Graduate; preferably licensed
