Job Description
Join our dynamic team as an Environmental Engineer focusing on Air Compliance. This critical role involves overseeing and conducting general compliance monitoring of the Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) program, Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) program, and Fence Line programs. You will act as the key liaison between operations, maintenance, project managers, and site contractors, ensuring seamless communication and compliance with environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage multiple CEMS to ensure accurate emissions tracking; conduct daily, monthly, and quarterly QA\QC calibrations, emissions calculations and reporting for Illinois EPA based CEMS data.
- Provide daily oversight of the facility’s site-wide LDAR program (28k+ components) and the LDAR contractor to ensure compliance.
- Provide oversight and review data of the new Fence Line Monitoring program.
- Provide oversight of preventative maintenance program for FTIR-based gas analyzers in Alkoxylation.
- Track and coordinate environmental contractors onsite to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Liaise with operations, maintenance, projects, and contractors to ensure smooth operations and compliance.
- Handle scheduling and compliance activities, including working with regulatory environmental agencies. (IEPA and USEPA)
- Review and interpret Management of Change (MOCs) to determine regulatory applicability.
- Interpret and apply environmental regulatory, permit and policy requirements to the site and projects.
- Ability develop and implement environmental compliance procedures to large chemical facility.
- Schedule and conduct quarterly audits and annual RATA for multiple CEMS.
- Participate in daily operations meetings to address and communicate compliance issues.
Qualifications
- 5-10+ years of experience performing similar or related role within a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of US regulations pertaining to air compliance.
- Knowledge of EPA Methods 21 LDAR monitoring for leak equipment.
- Proven technical experience with continuous emissions monitoring for ethylene oxide preferred.
- Strong knowledge of environmental permitting processes and QA/QC plan development for CEMS.
- Experience in scheduling and managing compliance activities.
- Ability to work effectively with regulatory environmental agencies.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and liaison skills with internal and external stakeholders
Education
A bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Pay Range: $98,000 - $150,000
The salary range for this position is determined by considering a variety of factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and the location of the position.
