Materials Planner

Job Description
The primary responsibility of the Materials Planner is to manage the daily activities of assigned raw materials for multiple plants across Stepan’s North American network.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Monitoring, tactical buying and movement of all raw materials into Stepan plants to ensure that manufacturing and customer’s needs are met
• Collaborating with all other Supply Chain partners to ensure effective use of inventory, working capital and ensuring plant materials are received at the right time, right material, right quantity and right quality for consumption
• Conducts analysis and recommends improvements within the supply chain, this role is critical to the success of the Supply Chain
• Helps reduce total landed costs for materials, including rail and tank truck demurrage and total cost
• Ensure that Materials Planning operations and support are aligned with Supply Chain, Business and company goals and objectives
• Effectively utilize materials planning procedures, processes, analytics, metrics and standards to ensure timely and efficient delivery of materials to meet production requirements to satisfy customer demand and maintain appropriate inventory levels
• Meet the needs of customers while supporting department and company and financial goals and objectives
• Optimize supply network for areas of responsibility through effective utilization of supply chain tools and best practices
• Identify and drive technology improvements related to Materials Management
• Establish standards, develop procedures and manage operations to ensure a disciplined approach to planning, buying, moving, storing and controlling materials in an optimum manner to provide appropriate service to the customer at the best TCO (Total Cost of Ownership)
Qualifications
• Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in chemical operations or supply chain
• Effective communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
• SAP proficiency is a plus
• Possess or willing to pursue CPIM certification
• Must be able to work effectively with people at all levels inside and outside of the Company
Education
• Bachelor’s Degree (preferred in related field)
