Plant Accounting Manager

Job Description

The Plant Accounting Manager will be accountable for leading and own the accounting and reporting process for the site and ensure the site is maintaining required financial controls.  Accountable for site expense and fixed asset accounting and controls, monthly expense forecasting, preparation of the annual site expense budget, month-end financial close, monthly expense variance analysis and reporting, actual vs budget/forecast reporting, coordinating and supporting internal and external audits, site KPI coordination, government reporting and special projects.

Responsibilities includes but are not limited to:
•    Oversee the monthly accounting close and reporting process for the site in accordance with US GAAP
•     Ensure accurate month end accounting of expenses. Complete all month end close and reporting activities in accordance with required timetables from Corporate Accounting
•    Analyze site operating results, monitor and analyze variances to budget and forecast, review and share trends and outliers 
•    Develop monthly and quarterly reporting on spending for site, regional and corporate finance stakeholders
•    Lead the development of the annual site operating budget and monthly spend forecast updates.  Bridge expenses vs prior year, budget and forecast
•     Lead monthly and annual forecast and budget financial reviews with region, site and corporate supply chain leadership
•    Prepare required KPI’s and provide insights into opportunities and vulnerabilities on expense or other cost trends
•    Ensure accounting for capital expenditures is in accordance with GAAP and internal policies.  Oversee process to ensure capital projects are closed out and/or put into service in SAP on a timely basis 
•    Review and approve all reconciliations related to fixed assets, including deferred engineering. Conduct annual asset impairment reviews
•     Manage the accounting process around capitalized internal engineering
•    Ensure site SOX controls are in conformance with internal and external requirements. Lead coordination of internal and external audits and resolution of open audit issues
•    Assist site Controller with miscellaneous financial analysis projects, cost out analysis and governance, decision support or Cost Accounting analysis


•    Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience 
•    Minimum of 3 years of supervisory/management experience 
•    Must have strong working knowledge and relevant experience in the application of US GAAP accounting principles and a demonstrated ability to comply 
•    Must have clear understanding of how to effectively manage organizational cost and ability to develop policies and procedures, systems and processes 
•    Experience and demonstrated knowledge of expense forecasting and budgeting processes 


•    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting 
•    CPA and MBA preferred, but is not required
