Production Leader

Job Description

The Production Leader is responsible for managing all aspects of the production area’s performance – EH&S, quality, and reliability. The Production Leader will be directly responsible for the supervision of the hourly employees in the area and supporting the operational, administrative, and logistical activities to support the manufacturing of Stepan products in the area.  

•    Manage manufacturing (Planning, Production and Warehousing) to ensure Health, Safety & Environmental, operational, financial and customer service targets are achieved and develop the team and area in line with business needs.
•    Responsible for managing the safe operation of plant and equipment in line within internal and legislative requirements.
•    Ensure that all employees within the operations area are suitably trained in all aspects of HSE to deliver appropriate performance.
•    Drive continuous improvement in HSE performance within manufacturing area.
•    Ensure accidents and near miss reports are investigated and steps taken to address root causes in a cost-effective manner.
•    Promote and maintain a behavioural Safety culture in the operations area.
•    Deliver HSE targets in line with site BSC.
•    Responsible for the setting and delivery of production plans.
•    Ensure availability of identified capacity bottlenecks and proposals for the next steps for plant capacity increases.
•    Oversee stock accuracy of materials within SAP system and ensure accurate data in SAP for all processes.
•    Responsible for the minimization of restricted stock levels.
•    Standard Operating Procedures are available, up to date and in use.
•    Ensure on time dispatch and targets are achieved regarding customer service.
•    Root causes of manufacturing related customer complaints are identified and addressed in a cost-effective way in a timely manner.
•    Identify technical and commercial functions to ensure customer requirements are fully defined and understood.
•    Manage the team members and ensure their performance is in line with expectations. 
•    Review each area's development and training plans and deliver plans in line with business need.
•    Recruit and select team members for area and undertake disciplinary action according to the procedure when required.
•    Ensure RTF Quality targets are met.
•    QAS processes on site with help of QA Manager. 
•    Support, promote and demonstrate use of the SQE Quality approach in all aspects of work.
•    Manage budget with fixed cost performance for manufacturing budgets.
•    Identify and deliver cost reduction opportunities for area to ensure that resource and material variances are minimized.
•    Participate and maintain compliance related activities including internal and external audits for applicable standards and certifications such as ISO 9001:2015, EFfCI, FSSC 22000, Kosher, Halal, RSPO, ISCC+ and others.
 

Qualifications

•    5 years of chemical operations/manufacturing experience. 
•    3 years minimum of Management Experience in Manufacturing.
•    Understanding of chemical process and production equipment required.
•    SAP experience. 
•    Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.  
 

Education

•    High school diploma or equivalent required: Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
