Job Description

Stepan Co. is seeking an experienced and dynamic Pruduction Specialist to support our Millsdale (elwood, IL) Production Facility. This role is crucial in the planning and execution of production and construction/Maintenance activities within a assigned area of our facility.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibiliies: 

  • Provides flawless work permits. 
  • Audits area maintenance and construction activities with the area EH&S Generalist.
  • Develops and coordinates safety plans with EH&S prior to special activities.
  • Drive behaviour-based safety culture in the area by setting the safety standard and participates in EHS investigations where applicable.
  • Performs process or equipment troubleshooting alongside the Production Day Leader and hourly representative.
  • Key production participant in the maintenance area team meetings.
  • Contributes to prioritization of daily and weekly maintenance priorities.
  • Plans, communicates, and executes equipment preparation for planned maintenance and capital project work with the production team.
  • Works with maintenance planner and team leader to coordinate emergency repair plans to process equipment.
  • Provides backup to the production day leader as needed.
  • Coordinates PSSR plans for turnarounds.
  • Participates in area team (Safety, Quality, etc.) meetings.
  • Oversees, coordinates, and reports on training for new employee qualification testing.
  • Oversees and coordinates work instruction development, improvements, and revalidation in cooperation with the area Production Engineers.
  • Oversees and coordinates training, skills development, and certifications for hourly area personnel.
  • Supports PLAS and MOS systems and processes through implementation of meeting tactics, completing follow-up actions, and coordinating improvements with engineering teams.
  • Facilitates meetings to coordinate construction or other plans with plant personnel.
  • Participates in capital project teams for scope development, alternative options, cost savings opportunities.
  • Provides, implements, and documents workable plans to reduce construction activity costs.
  • Responds professionally to all personnel, customers, and outside contractors.
  • Highly involved in cross-functional team building across the organization.
  • Ability to investigate and track spending in SAP and CMMS.
  • Implements formal maintenance prioritization processes.
  • Coordinates and plans efforts between operations, maintenance, projects and PPIC.

 

Education and Work Experience:

  • 5 years chemical processing experience, operations, and supervision.
  • Solid comprehension of chemical and unit operations.
  • Ability to facilitate troubleshooting efforts and team meetings.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and demonstrated planning skills.
  • Skilled in written and verbal communications.
  • Talented in organizing information and multi-tasking.
  • Available to respond to on-call emergencies and shutdowns.
