QA/QC Team Leader

Stepan is seeking a QA/QC Team Leader to join our Quality team in Elwood, IL. In this role, you will report to the Quality Manager. The QA/QC Team Leader is responsible for ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of Quality of Products, Processes, Services and Lab functions and personnel in the testing of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), finished products and shipments according to Stepan specifications, regulatory requirements, and QA/QC best practices.  Accountable for driving Quality Assurance and Quality Control philosophies throughout the line organization and integrating key practices into operations. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Laboratory Technicians report to QA/QC Team Leader
• Responsible for overseeing lab technicians relating to training, coaching, development, overall performance, shift scheduling, discipline, and interviewing
• Manage team and production execution of routine QA/QC samples management/testing analyses are completed to include incoming raw materials, packaged raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products
• Manage Quality Events (Out-of-specification investigations, Root Cause Analysis, CAPA, Customer Complaints & Returns) while maintaining and representing the “Voice of the Customer”
• Drive continuous improvement of laboratory processes, products, production processes and procedures.  Use six sigma concepts and tools (SQC, SPC, Root Cause Analysis, Minitab) to identify and drive continuous improvement
• Provide back-up and on-call support to Quality Department

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing industry working in a Quality Assurance and Quality Control area or laboratory
• Minimum of 2-3 years of supervisory experience
• Experience in root cause analysis/problem solving and corrective and preventive actions
• Experience with wet chemistry and laboratory instruments such as GC, GC-MS, FTIR, NIR, titroprocessors
• Experience leading teams and working with customer service/technical service
• Understanding of Quality philosophies, systems, analysis methods, and regulatory compliance

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering Required

Salary Range: $81,000 - $118,000K
