Job Description

The Senior Railroad Switcher will work with Plant Manufacturing, Production Planning and Materials Management to ensure safe, timely and efficient development of the switch plan for the rail cars within the Millsdale plant.  The Senior Railroad Switcher will follow all practices in compliance with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), Department of Transportation (DOT)-related regulations and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) procedures and policies.
•    Development of rail car switching plan.
•    Utilize established processes and procedures to ensure safe, timely and efficient switching of the rail cars within the Millsdale plant.
•    Establish standards, develop procedures, and manage operations to ensure a disciplined approach to operate the railroad assets at the Millsdale plant to provide appropriate service to the customer at the best total cost of ownership.
•    Perform basic switch engine maintenance, safety checks, and refuelling.
•    Meet the needs of the customer while supporting department and company financial goals and objectives.
•    Participate and maintain compliance related activities including internal and external audits for applicable standards and certifications such as ISO 9001:2015, EFfCI, FSSC 22000, Kosher, Halal, RSPO, ISCC+ and others.


•    Minimum of 3 years railroad experience; 6+ years preferred. 
•    Knowledge of FRA and DOT regulations. 
•    Effective problem-solving skills. 
•    Ability to collaborate and communicate with manufacturing and planning personnel. 
•    Knowledge and awareness of safe work practices. 
•    Able to work weekends, nights, holidays, and overtime.


•    High School diploma or equivalent; technical degree preferred.
