Assistant Treasurer

Job Description

Stepan is hiring an Assistant Treasurer for our Northbrook, IL location. The Assistant Treasurer develops and executes global banking, debt and liquidity management, foreign exchange and interest rate risk hedging strategies. This position provides analytical support to decisions related to capital structure, financial risk management, operational financing, and coordinates process improvement and automation efforts for global treasury operations.

Key Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Manage debt capital market activities, negotiate credit facilities and banking services, analyze and recommend capital and debt structure, ensure debt covenant compliance.
  • Monitor foreign exchange and interest rate risks, recommend and execute the Company‘s financial risk management strategies including utilizing foreign exchange and interest rate derivatives to mitigate exposures. 
  • Develop and manage lender and rating agency relationships.
  • Manage global cash, develop and execute cash repatriation strategy, optimize cash management operations by deploying best-in-class products and processes, ensure proper controls to safeguard assets. 
  • Provide guidance to business units and global subsidiaries in cash, debt, working capital management, financing and banking relations.
  • Implement treasury process improvement and evaluate/implement treasury management systems.   
  • Perform treasury reporting and budgeting/forecasting responsibilities, prepare financial reports for management and the board, maintain controls for Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance. Support internal and external audit.
  • Additional responsibilities/projects as required.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in treasury, finance or banking, with responsibilities of analyzing currency and interest rate risks, executing hedging strategies utilizing FX and interest rate derivatives, negotiating debt capital market transactions such as revolver facilities/bond issuance, preferably in a multinational corporation or financial institution. 
  • Experience with derivatives accounting rules and hedge accounting requirements preferred.
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling and research capabilities.
  • Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience with treasury management systems preferred.
  • Must demonstrate overall business acumen and understanding of international treasury operations. 
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP required.

Education

B.A. in Accounting, Finance or Economics required; MBA or CFA preferred.

Pay Range: $123,000 - $166,000

The salary range for this position is determined by considering a variety of factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and the location of the position.
