Job Description
Stepan is seeking a Business Development Manager to join our Polymers team in Northbrook, IL. In this role, you will report to the Vice President of Polymers Americas. The role will support the strategy of our businesses to drive growth through successful design and execution of projects that deliver new products and/or introduce new markets.
Key Responsibilities:
· Business Development Leadership. Build and manage a portfolio of business development opportunities to drive growth. Set goals and priorities, identify / assess adjacencies, build business cases (including white papers). Participate as the commercial SME for Innovation and joint development projects with responsibility for delivering the Business objectives.
· Market Dynamics. Responsible for understanding and communicating trends, activities, competitors, customer needs, regulatory issues, etc. and integrating that knowledge into effective product strategies. Conduct market research to gain an understanding of market dynamics including future opportunities, value drivers and competition.
· External Focus. Develop senior and mid-level relationships with key external customers, suppliers, and other key industry contacts. Support Sales / Marketing at customers to drive growth. Ensure external and internal customer requirements are being met. Participate in industry trade organizations and shows.
· Strategy for Growth. Development, approval, and execution of regional, product line specific, five-year strategic plans, consistent with the Global Corporate Plan, including long term technology, product portfolio raw material and marketing strategies (multi-generational product strategy).
Qualifications
· 5-8 years commercial experience in the chemical industry and/or industrial markets
· Ability to travel 25% of the time.
· Demonstrated Skills: Business Acumen, Financial Acumen, Decision Making, Strategic Thinking, Achieving Business Results, Business Relationships, Negotiation and Analytical
Education
· Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
