Director of North America Procurement, Indirect Raw Materials

Job Description

Stepan is seeking a Director, North America Indirect Materials, to join our Procurement team in Northbrook, IL. In this role, you will report to the VP of Global Procurement. In this role, you will lead an organization of 5-10 procurement professionals responsible for $500 million in indirect procurement spend.  You will be responsible for the indirect spend across 10 locations in North America, including CAPEX, utilities, plant MRO, plant services, and corporate services.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to identify and implement opportunities to reduce costs of materials, reduce lead times, and improve supply.
  • Manage key internal and external relationships across stakeholders and suppliers to enable strategic sourcing initiatives and mitigate supply risk.
  • Develop and implement team structure to optimize value.
  • Drive project execution, prioritize tasks and secure resources.
  • Maintain effective and consistent communication, in-person and written, with stakeholders regarding procurement projects, strategies and risk areas.
  • Provide direction to the team members in the performance of their duties; establish work priorities; develop and mentor team.

Qualifications

 

  • 10+ years of proven procurement & sourcing, supply chain, or related experience.
  • Strong negotiator and experience in the use of procurement tools such as RFP/RFQs, reverse auctions, etc.
  • Experience writing, negotiating, and implementing contracts.
  • Knowledge and experience in utilities strongly preferred.
  • Industry experience in chemicals is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft tools

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required
