Financial Analyst

Job Description

  • Provide global spend analytics ($1.5+ billion) to Procurement, Business and Supply Chain stakeholders for both direct and indirect spend categories. Analysis to be made available by business, region, country, and site.
  • Support provision of spend analytics for procurement conferences, supplier meetings and enabling sourcing strategy revision and development, working in collaboration with Commodity Managers.
  • Assist Direct and Indirect Commodity Managers in identifying savings opportunities through use of procurement analytics tools.
  • Focus heavily on processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis.
  • Maintain and update monthly collection, reporting, and communication of market intelligence and indices on key feedstocks (i.e. Lauric Oils, Crude Oil, Ethylene, and Propylene). Manage the process of identifying and tracking these key feedstocks. Work with the Horizontal Work Process Owner to present graphic analytics of feedstock pricing and economic trends. 
  • Partner with Commodity Managers to provide market analytics and research to be used to support Sourcing Strategy development, driving best value sourcing for Stepan Company.
  • Maintain the global tracker of how the indices are used and what pricing formulas are linked to our subscriptions. 
  • Oversee and coordinate the collection and reporting of Global Direct Materials procurement forecasting. This includes attending forecast calls and providing latest statistics on material forecasting pricing trends. Attend North America Monthly Marketing Meetings and communicate regularly with Global Procurement Direct Material sourcing team. Provide event (i.e. weather) impact analysis on feedstocks to key business and Company leadership stakeholders.
  • Assist the Procurement Financial Analysis Manager in owning and improving the Procurement iSave tool that tracks global procurement team value delivered to the Business and Supply Chain.
  • Review project content, validate savings claimed, and provide information gap notifications to Global Commodity Managers.Assist in monthly reporting and communication of savings results. 
  • Control day-to-day global use of Zycus across the Company. This includes troubleshooting issues, assisting in addressing user questions, establishing access, coordinating and performing training, and controlling the process of tool revisions (i.e. new fields, mapping changes, pre-packaged reporting, etc.). 

Qualifications

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Preferred experience in spend analytics tools
  • Preferred experience in Power BI
  • Is widely trusted; is seen as a direct, truthful individual; can present the unvarnished truth in an appropriate and helpful manner; keeps confidences; admits mistakes; doesn’t misrepresent him/herself for personal gain.

Education

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Masters degree preferred
