Internal Audit Intern

Job Description
Stepan Company is looking for a motivated individual to join our Northbrook-based Internal Audit team, as a summer intern to assist with day-to-day operations and projects. Internship projects will include drafting templates, Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) testing of financial controls, and assisting with various operational audit procedures.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and prepare internal audit templates and work papers
• Assemble relevant information for use in planning and execution of internal audit projects
• Provide administrative support to the Internal Audit team
• Perform audit procedures and evaluate the design and operating effectiveness internal controls
• Effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization to support Internal Audit team
Monday through Friday: 8:30am to 4:45pm Central Standard Time, 20 to 40 hours/week. The duration of the internship, schedule, and start date will be agreed upon with the intern at the start of the internship program. Internship duration may not exceed 3 months per calendar year.
Qualifications
• Excellent oral and written communication, as well as interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
• Ability to be proactive and meet project deadlines
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid team environment
• Self-starter with good problem-solving skills
• Detailed oriented and strong analytical skills
• Prior professional experience preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Foreign language proficiency (Spanish, German, French, Mandarin) is a plus
Education
• Current student pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in Accounting with an interest in auditing and/or internal controls (sophomores, juniors and seniors are preferred)
• Strong academic track record (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3)

Pay Range: $20-22/hour
The pay range for this position is determined by considering a variety of factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and the location of the position.
