Job Description
Stepan Company has an opportunity for a summer internship for students in current pursuit of a BS in Chemical Engineering. Stepan is offering an office-based internship at our headquarters in Northbrook, IL in support of our Global Engineering team.
Summer interns will work on one or more active projects and assist in continuous improvement of the Global Project Delivery System (GPDS) – Stepan’s capital project management system.
Typical responsibilities may include:
- Serving as process engineer on capital project teams.
- Supporting development of design deliverables on key capital projects. This includes
- Process/Engineering Flow Diagrams
- Material and Energy Balances (M&EB's)
- Equipment sizing and specification
- Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's)
- Participating on plant optimization teams to identify opportunities for improvements in cost, capacity, environmental and safety issues.
- Actively participating and contributing in safety programs to continually improve the safety culture of the Company.
- Identifying problems and communicate them to supervisor.
- Helping solve problems and make projects successful.
Qualifications
- Ability to work well with others at all organizational levels
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and work independently
- Six Sigma knowledge
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Broad technical knowledge in general Engineering principles
- Good written and oral communication skills
Education
- A High School Diploma
- A rising SENIOR currently enrolled at an accredited university, majoring in Chemical Engineering
Pay Range: $28.00/hour
The pay range for this position is determined by considering a variety of factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and the location of the position.
