Job Description

Stepan is seeking a Senior Regulatory Scientist to join our Global Regulatory team in Northbrook, IL. In this role, you will report to the Senior Registration Manager. You will join a dynamic regulatory team responsible for managing regulatory matters related to Stepan’s EPA FIFRA-regulated biocide portfolio of antimicrobial pesticides.   This position has responsibility for participating in the registration efforts at the federal, state, and international level for new and updated product registrations.  The Sr. Regulatory Scientist will develop submission strategy, negotiate and resolve regulatory issues raised by the EPA and state regulatory agencies, and work with the business and legal on compliance matters.  The position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a high degree of professionalism.   

Key Responsibilities:
- Biocide Product Registration: This Sr. Regulatory Scientist role will actively participate in all elements of biocide registration activities; key responsibilities include:
• Develop biocide product strategy within regulatory team in coordination with legal, business, and R&D partners.  
• Provide regulatory input, requirements, and feedback to business during product development.
• Implement submission strategy by preparing and submitting EPA master label and CSF notifications, amendments, and PRIA registration actions.  Negotiate and resolve issues arising from EPA submissions.
• Monitor and ensure the implementation of the registration changes within the network.
• Maintain registered biocide portfolio documentation and records.
• Oversee CDPR submissions utilizing consultants.
• Prepare and submit mandatory reporting, including EPA maintenance fees and pesticide production reporting.
• Ensure sufficient DCI response to maintain active product registrations.
• Engage in international biocide registration activities, as needed.
• Oversee state registration submissions and renewals.

- Biocide Business Support and Advocacy: This Sr. Regulatory Scientist role will actively serve as a partner to the business within the organization and externally; key responsibilities include:
• Provide regulatory guidance and support to customers, sales, and technical service teams.
• Participate in industry trade association groups.  Communicate relevant information from trade activities to the team.
• Participate in various company business teams, where applicable, to further develop biocide regulatory strategy and needs.

Qualifications

• Must have 2 – 5 years of experience in U.S. EPA FIFRA regulations and standards, experience in preparing government submissions
• Ability to interact effectively with business leaders, government agencies and trade associations
• Knowledge of antimicrobial pesticides beneficial but not required
• Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.

Education

Bachelor/M.S. of Science in Chemistry, Toxicology, Biology or other related science

 

Pay Range: $78,000 - $100,000

The salary range for this position is determined by considering a variety of factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and the location of the position.
