Sr. Category Manager II, North America Procurement

Job Description

Stepan is seeking a Senior Category Manager II, North America to join our Global Procurement team based in Northbrook, IL. In this role, you will be responsible for $150 million to $200 million of annual spend across Natural + Oleochemical raw materials used in Stepan Surfactant, Polymer and Specialty Product Business areas, as well as oversee Global Category Leadership initiatives. This role will report to the Director, North America Procurement.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute Category sourcing strategies, lead competitive bids (RFx) and contract negotiations to deliver Total-Cost of Ownership savings and Product Supply efficiencies.
• Build knowledge of value chains from feedstocks to end markets, identify stakeholder needs, and analyze cost-models to develop and recommend business solutions.
• Manage supplier and stakeholder relationships, engagements and presentations with internal and external Leadership.
• Build Global Category expertise with cross-regional collaborations and drive 
long-term value solutions.
• Ensure compliance with Procurement processes and procedures as well as the timely execution of procurement-oriented tasks, including price-forecasting and supply planning.

Qualifications

• 5-10+ years of proven experience in a Procurement, Commercial, or Supply Chain role
• High-performing professional with a drive for results and experience operating in a transforming, highly matrixed stakeholder environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with effective stakeholder engagement, presentation and influencing abilities across departments and levels
• Proven problem solving, analytical and project management skills, and proficiency in SAP and Microsoft tools
• Experience in the chemical, manufacturing, food or pharmaceutical industry
• Domestic and International Travel as needed for the role.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree required
• Master’s Degree preferred
