Job Description

Stepan is seeking a Sr. Registration Manager to join our Global Regulatory team in Northbrook, IL. In this role, you will report to the Director of Global Regulatory and Product Safety. You will join a dynamic regulatory team responsible for managing regulatory registration activities related to Stepan’s portfolio of surfactants, polymers, and other specialty ingredients.  The Sr. Registration Manager will be responsible for development and execution of the registration strategy for new chemical innovations, as well as facilitating the maintenance and support of Stepan’s existing registrations.  The Sr. Registration Manager will collaborate closely with the product safety team, research and development, and the commercial organization in support of commercial and innovation portfolio opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Management of regulatory registration specialist team (4 direct reports).
•    Develop registration strategy for global innovation portfolio to support business development opportunities.  Facilitate execution of this strategy with the registration team.
•    Oversight of registration team responsible for chemical registration maintenance and support activities (ex. chemical reporting, food contact clearances, global chemical registration scheme implementations, and registered biocide portfolio maintenance).
•    Provide regulatory guidance and support to customers, sales, and technical service team.
•    Participate in industry and stakeholder groups and communicate relevant information to internal stakeholders.
•    Monitor regulations, policy changes and trends.  Develop strategies and advocate for policies to facilitate and maintain compliance with applicable regulations.

Qualifications

• Must have 5 – 10 years of experience in global chemical registration systems, like US TSCA, US FIFRA, or EU REACH, including the preparation of registration dossiers.  
• Knowledge of surfactant chemistries beneficial but not required
• Prefer formal training or experience in chemical risk assessment processes and application within optimizing registration strategies.
• Ability to interact effectively with business leaders, government agencies and trade associations
• Strong competency in project management, negotiation and communication.  Proactive mindset in identification and implementation of novel strategies for product stewardship.
• Experience managing a team of direct reports
• Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills. Experience in team training and development beneficial.

Education

  • Bachelor/M.S. of Science in Chemistry, Toxicology, Biology or other related science
