Environmental Specialist

Job Description

The primary responsibility of the Environmental Engineer is to manage all aspects of the plant’s day-to-day operations of the facility with regard to environmental compliance and policy.  The incumbent will support the site team to achieve the desired performance objectives outlined by corporate initiatives, business unit initiatives, and local/site initiatives. This position reports to the EHS&S Leader and partners with management, operations and maintenance to prioritize tasks and optimize compliance at the plant.

Responsibilities include:
•    Work to assist in the site’s compliance with State and Federal air regulations including, but not limited to, the site's NSR air permit and all associated monitoring, recordkeeping, data analysis and reporting.  
•    Works to assist in the submittals of permit renewals, construction permits, permit modifications, stack testing protocols, LDAR monitoring programs, reporting and other permitting activities, as necessary.  
•    Responsible for the Facility’s Tier II reporting
•    Develop, update, implement, and maintain Storm Water Pollution Prevention and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure Plans, including filing the appropriate annual and other reports.
•    Assisting in chemical inventory reporting (EPCRA) and Form R reports. 
•    Collect or supervise the collection of stormwater, sludge, and other environmental samples for analysis and submit data to regulatory agencies. 
•    Maintain accurate compliance records.  Submit compliance reports accurately and in a timely manner. 
•    Leads in the management of the Facility’s waste programs, which includes various inspections, reports, and the signing of hazardous waste manifests.
•    Develops and helps implement environmental management systems, including assisting in developing any programs, work instructions, policies or procedures to ensure the site maintains compliance.
•    Lead and participate in meetings, environmental audits, and trainings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information.
•    Notifies area management with Environmental deviations while providing support.
•    Respond as needed to emergency situations during and/or after hours. 
•    Other duties as required.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an environmental compliance role within chemical manufacturing plant. 
•    Demonstrated oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
•    Advanced computer skills including spreadsheets, data collection and analysis.
•    Demonstrated integrity and character. 
•    Strong people skills and an ability to influence others. 
•    Flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities
•    Working knowledge of US and TX Environmental Regulations

Education

BS degree in Engineering, Sciences, or Environmental Field.
