Job Description

The Stepan Pasadena Plant has an opening for a Maintenance Planner/Scheduler Leader. The main purpose of this role is to provide cost-effective maintenance services and to ensure safe and reliable operations while achieving customer service, growth, and financial targets.  

Responsibilities include:   

  • Ensuring that planned jobs meet ES&H requirements.
  • Reviewing gatekeepers approved work notifications and converts them to work orders.
  • Verifies that appropriate work order priorities have been assigned on new work.
  • Performs jobs walks, determines, and procures as needed parts, repairs standards, outside services, estimated hrs., crafts, crew size, special tools & equipment requirements for planned jobs to achieve desired performance including time scheduling of site maintenance personnel and contractors.
  • Prepare and publish daily or weekly work maintenance schedules that have been collectively developed with Operations, utilizes “craft availability” for scheduling 100% of available hrs.
  • Conduct weekly preplanning planning scheduling and previous week’s scheduling compliance meetings with operations to review and the development of action plans to improve scheduling success rate.
  • Ensuring all work orders are planned to include production requirements, lock out and blind list required to perform the work and identify permit requirements.
  • Develops and modifies PM’s/BOM’s. Routinely performs PM optimization reviews.
  • Assigns work to site maintenance and or contractor personnel. 
  • Provide effective job plans to ensure job timing requirements can be achieved.
  • Field management of maintenance and or contractors to assure progress and resolve job plan issues.
  • Interface with production, capital projects, core maintenance and other mechanical maintenance personnel to coordinate and develop the work schedules. 
  • Coordinate outside services as required by job plans. Backup to maintenance or IE specialists.
  • Coordinates equipment downtime with operations.
  • Analyze problems relating to shutdown workflow to determine cause and define appropriate action.
  • Reviews work in progress, tracks job status and schedule completion success rate and ensures timely completion of work orders.
     

Qualifications

  • 10 years’ experience in maintenance planning & scheduling, and must have
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability or aptitude, initiative, self-direction and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Working experience and knowledge of maintenance operations in chemical manufacturing or like industry.
  • Requires significant use of SAP in work planning, issuing material/service requisitions, warehouse parts reservations, and tracking parts delivery.
     

Education

  • High School Diploma with equivalent experience required
  • Associate Degree preferred
