Job Description
• Responsible for supporting Stepan's Safety, Environmental & Responsible Care policies including shutting down the equipment to avoid unsafe or environmental incidents
• Safely manufactures alkoxylation products by following approved process instructions; this includes monitoring and maintaining all area equipment within specified guidelines
• Performs analytical testing on wastewater, and stormwater using a variety of analytical equipment
• Monitor recording instrument s, flow meters and other indicators as well as listen for warning signals in order to verify conformity of process conditions
• Responsible for safe handling of material, including loading and off -loading raw materials and finished products in railcars, tank trucks, iso-containers
• Performs in-process analytical testing on finished products using a variety of analytical equipment
• Safely off-loads ethylene oxide (EO) & propylene oxide (PO) railcars to storage tanks. Both EO & PO are highly hazardous raw materials
• Collects data and accurately calculates material balances
• Responsible for organizing own work including scheduling breaks so that work is not interrupted
• Responsible for inspecting equipment prior to each shift to ensure proper operating condition
• Responsible for writing work orders for malfunctioning equipment
• Responsible for training new and/or transferred operators
• Support all Environmental, Health, and Safety Programs, policies, and regulation s
• Responsible for participating in additional training including regulatory t raining, PHA reviews, PSSRs, safety meetings etc. as required to support EH&S objectives
• Be an active member of the Stepan site emergency response team and complete required training as required
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned with a high degree dedication to safety and environmental stewardship
Qualifications
• Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision and in a team environment
• 2+ years of chemical manufacturing or other related industrial experience
• Certification in Process Technology preferred
• Able to read, review and interpret P& ID' s
• Previous experience with Inventory Management System (SAP), Microsoft Office.
• Must have excellent analytical approach to problem solving
• Well organized with a focus on managing multiple tasks, safety conscious, responsible and reliable
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal. Detail oriented
• Must understand chemical process operations and have the ability to recognize and respond to operational
difficulties and potential safety concerns
• Experience with highly hazardous materials is considered an asset
• Able to work 12 hour rotating shifts on both weekends and holiday

• High School diploma or equivalent
