Process Safety Engineer

Job Description
We are currently seeking a Process Safety Engineer to work in our Manufacturing facility in Pasadena, TX, reporting to the Plant Manager. This position will be responsible for leading the site in PSM and RMP activities, and will be engaged in facilitation, technical “hands-on” work, and continuous improvement activities. The candidate will have the opportunity to be part of a new plant design, build and start-up.
Key Responsibilities:
• Recognizes, evaluates, and controls process hazards
• Provides technical expertise and consults on regulatory compliance, hazard management, behavioral modification and auditing programs
• Ensures PSM/RMP management system, documentation requirements and operational discipline are robust across the site
• Interfaces with site functions to upgrade and administer essential program elements
• Acts as company liaison to contractors to ensure contractor PSM programs are following site requirements
• Facilitates and/or coordinates incident and near miss investigations, root cause analysis and follow-up
• Oversees PSM related information systems and databases, including providing regulatory interpretations, developing written site programs and standards, tracking PSM metrics and trend analysis, and facilitating site training
• Collaborates and problem solves with cross functional teams to develop, maintain and improve PSM programs and training based on changes to regulations, company policies and standards, industry practices and key learnings
• Develops and implements an audit schedule for the site covering all elements of PSM and leads/conducts audits as required
• Leads a sustainable culture of excellence by fostering commitment and engaging employees
Qualifications
• 5+ years’ experience in the chemical industry, batch processing preferred
• Experience in PSM, RMP, OSHA, NFPA requirements
• Experience leading PHAs
• Ability and flexibility to support a continuously operating manufacturing site
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to facilitate troubleshooting efforts and team meetings
• Demonstrated problem solving skills and attention to detail
Education
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) required
