Senior Site Controls Engineer

Job Description

We are currently seeking a Site Controls Engineer to work in our Manufacturing facility in Pasadena, TX, reporting to the Technical and Process Engineering Manager. This multifaceted position will be involved in control system implementation, testing & maintenance, process improvement & optimization activities, capital project development & execution, as well as providing technical support to a production area to ensure stable operations. The candidate will have the opportunity to be part of a new plant comissioning and start-up.

 

Key Responsibilities:    

 

  • Site lead for the continued development, configuration and implementation of a DCS and SIS control system
  • Single point of contact for site controls & IT activities with all parties
  • Provide input into functional design specifications, safety requirements, functional descriptions, alarm rationalization, and process simulator development
  • Key participant in loop checking & commissioning execution
  • Lead troubleshooting and maintenance of control system
  • Implement controls related process improvements and optimization with the team
  • Lead scope development and implementation of new capital controls projects and provide input to scope development and controls requirements for site capital projects
  • Site liaison with Corporate IT and 3rd party providers for IT initiatives
  • Support management of change by ensuring that changes are implemented safely and correctly and in line with the principles of Process Safety Management (PSM)
 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in the chemical industry, batch processing preferred
  • Experience working with control standard ISA-88 and related standards
  • Experience with Honeywell Experion PKS, UOC controllers and SIS is desired
  • Comprehensive understanding and experience in the integration and installation of process controls equipment
  • Ability and flexibility to support a continuously operating manufacturing site  
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to facilitate troubleshooting efforts and team meetings
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and attention to detail

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required
