Warehouse Operative

Job Description

To safely and efficiently carry out warehousing, processing, packaging, stock control, and material handling activities while ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality, and customer requirements. The role supports operational performance through accurate stock management, effective use of SAP/WMS systems, and maintaining high standards of housekeeping and customer service.

Salary £28-£30k dependant on experince 

Hours 37 per week 7.5 hours Monday to Thursday and 7 on Friday between the hours of 07.00 and 15.00


Qualifications

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Comply with all site HSE policies, including IPPC, COMAH, Permit to Work (PTW) procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Operate plant, equipment, and handling machinery safely and correctly.
  • Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) requirements.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards within all working areas.
  • Report incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, and unsafe behaviours.
  • Complete HSE inspections, audits, and scheduled safety checks.

Quality

  • Adhere to ISO 9000 quality standards and site procedures.
  • Ensure products meet customer specifications and quality requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and auditable documentation and records.
  • Manage stock status effectively, including QA pending materials.
  • Identify and report quality concerns and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Support internal and external quality audits.

Operational Performance

  • Operate processing and warehouse equipment efficiently and safely.
  • Ensure stock accuracy within SAP and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Record waste and inventory transactions accurately.
  • Support loading and unloading operations to achieve on-time, in-full performance.
  • Manage consumable stock levels and report inventory discrepancies.
  • Follow operational procedures and maintain accurate paperwork.
  • Support continuous improvement activities within the warehouse and processing areas.

 

Customer Service

  • Understand internal and external customer requirements.
  • Ensure customer expectations are met through quality service and reliable delivery performance.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and internal departments to resolve operational issues.

Teamwork & Development

  • Work effectively as part of a team and support colleagues.
  • Participate in training activities and assist with training others when required.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to support changing operational requirements.
  • Contribute ideas for improving safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.

Education

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential

  • NVQ Level 2 in Warehousing, Packaging, or equivalent experience.
  • Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
  • Fork Lift Truck (FLT) licence.
  • Experience within a manufacturing, warehousing, or chemical processing environment.
  • Ability to follow procedures and work safely.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of SAP and Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Understanding of COMAH, IPPC, and chemical handling requirements.
  • Experience in stock control and inventory accuracy.
