Global Procurement Director- Europe, Sustainability and Compliance

Job Description

Stepan Europe is hiring his Procurement Director for Europe. The Procurement Director will lead Procurement in Europe (direct, indirect, transportation, CAPEX) to deliver sustainable procurement solutions that maximize stakeholder value, competitive advantage, risk management and innovation. She / he will contribute to Stepan Global Procurement initiatives as Area lead.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure continuous efficient operating of Stepan’s European businesses, by seamless supply of materials, goods and services, from approved suppliers.
  • Ensure effective management of all Stepan EU entities controllable spends, aiming to achieve more favorable results, leading to lowest total cost of ownership while securing competitive advantage for the company.
  • Sponsor robust category management from EU procurement team to align to Business needs and secure a long-term sustainable strategy for key spending areas (Direct, Indirect, Transportation, CAPEX).
  • Ensure relevant tools are being deployed & monitored to support quality standards whilst achieving Procurement goals.
  • Ensure adequate EU procurement support to Regulatory/Trade compliance needs whilst balancing resource involvement vs other procurement tasks
  • Support set-up and approval of procurement contracts through the contract management system in place
  • Lead the European procurement team, both for direct and indirect spend, as it pertains to talent selection, performance management, employee development and motivating employees to achieve high performance results.
  • Build a positive team spirit and promote team effectiveness and harmony

 

Qualifications & Education

  • Ideally a master or chemical engineering degree (or directly related technical degree). In addition, the ideal candidate would have a business degree such as an MBA
  • Minimum of 15 years’ of chemical industry experience (or related industry) that includes 8 years’ experience required in Procurement. Candidate must also have at least 3 years of management experience. 
  • Fluent in English
  • Sound knowledge of the economics of the supply-side of the chemicals, indirect materials, transportation, and utilities.
  • Mobile, and experienced traveler
  • Negotiating skills excellence, persuasive, team player
  • Proven successes delivering significant savings

 

The position could be based in Paris (Nation) or Grenoble (38)
