Job Description

We are looking for a talented EHS&S Leader to join our team in coastal Wilmington, NC. As an EHS&S Leader, you will report to the Site Manager and play a key role in providing advanced knowledge and technical expertise to drive continuous improvement in process safety, environmental compliance, and HS&S initiatives. Key Responsibilities:

  • Align corporate and local EHSS goals and strategies, leading continuous improvement initiatives related to EHSS policies and programs.
  • Deploy continuous improvement strategies in process safety and environmental compliance.
  • Ensure that EH&S compliance requirements are met by managing measurements and metrics, reporting, analysis, follow up and record keeping as mandated.
  • Lead process safety programs, including Hazop studies, process hazard analysis PHA, and compliance audits.
  • Assist in compliance efforts for operations adherence to Clean Air Act, MACT Standards, Title V permitting or other air operating permits, calculations of emissions inventories, air emission reduction initiatives, and other associated air program requirements.
  • Program ownership includes, but not limited to: Site Waste programs, SPCC, Fugitive Emissions & LDAR, Stormwater, Wastewater, Groundwater, Transportation, Emergency Response, & Fire Protection.
  • Monitor, inspect and maintain emergency response equipment, and safety supply inventory (includes safety signage throughout plant), respirator cleaning, manage the Class D Breathing Air, haz mat response supply inventory, refill breathing air bottles, inspect AED’s, SCBA’s, SKA’s, and ELSA paks. Maintain PID’s, & gas testing equipment.
  • Drive risk assessment processes including but not limited to; program assessments, job hazard analysis and (PPE) personal protective equipment, industrial hygiene, LOTO, & permit audits
  • Collaborate with site leaders on safety and project management.
  • Provide technical expertise and advanced knowledge in EHS&S to align with laws, regulations, and corporate policies.
  • Develop, schedule and deliver effective EHS training. Ensure that the required training for each employee is documented, completed on time and includes continual quality improvements.
  • Conduct incident investigations (RA, RCA, 5 Whys) and ensure the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Supervise and manage the proper management of hazardous waste.
  • Create a team atmosphere where all leaders are encouraged to actively participate and support safety and environmental goals.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of EHSS leadership with relevant work experience in chemical manufacturing.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • 2+ years of project management experience.
  • Experience in process safety and environmental compliance.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of EHS regulations (EPA, OSHA, ANSI, NFPA).
  • Experience with analytical methods and instrumentation such as GC, FT-NIR, titrators, viscometers.
  • Understanding of NPDES and Title V preferred.
  • Experience with Six Sigm, ISO, and/or other structure quality improvement tools preferred.
