Job Description
The Wilmington, NC site currently has a Chemical Operator opening in the Resins Production area. This position reports directly to the Operations Supervisor. A successfull candidate will have prior experience in utilities operation, materials handling, or working within a chemical manufacturing environment. This role follows a 12‑hour rotating shift schedule with some overtime required. Candidates must also have the flexibility to adjust their work schedule as necessary to support business needs.
Job Responsibilities and Expectations
- Follow established procedures (SOPs) to perform tasks, conduct quality checks/inspections, and take corrective actions as required.
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot manufacturing processes to ensure they operate within specified parameters.
- Maintain compliance in assigned work areas with all company policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Understand, apply, and participate in Safe Work Practices, including the issuing and adherence to safe work permits.
- Unload designated raw materials in accordance with SOPs (as applicable).
- Prepare equipment for routine maintenance; submit work notifications, perform fix-it-yourself tasks
- Demonstrate willingness to expand knowledge and skills; cross-train and certify in different operating areas
- Maintain proper housekeeping standards in operating areas, office, break areas, plant vehicles
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Valid driver’s license
- Experience in industrial utilities or chemical manufacturing operations
- Experience troubleshooting / applying mechanical skills for minor repairs on process equipment
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
Preferred Skills:
- 2-year minimum experience in industrial utilities or chemical manufacturing
- Chemical material handling experience
- Experience moving and spotting railcars
- SAP experience
- Forklift certified
Required Physical Ability / Working Conditions:
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions for various periods of time
- Able to perform tasks such as lifting (50 lbs.), walking, climbing stairs & ladders, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day
- Work a rotating 12-hour shift, to provide on-call coverage and work overtime, as needed
- Required to successfully complete Physical abilities test (PAT)
Education
High school diploma or GED
