Production Process Engineer

Job Description

Stepan is seeking a Production Process Engineer to join our Manufacturing team in Wilmington, NC. In this role, you will report to the Engineering Manager. The Production Engineer will follow all work instructions, equipment operating procedures, quality standards, and safety rules/guidelines while participating in a collaborative, team environment to achieve company goals.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and improve performance of Production Processes related to the Production Unit.
  • Identify production related issues and generate appropriate continuous improvements. Collect, interpret, analyze, and correlate data for troubleshooting with productivity issues, quality issues, equipment issues, etc. Define and implement the necessary improvements based on findings.
  • Conduct an Investigation (Customer Complaints, Off-Spec Production, Equipment Failures, Production Process Upsets, etc.)
  • Manage Process Improvement Projects & Generate Corrective Actions.
  • Correlate Final Product Quality to Production Processing Data.
  • Help teach/train Plant Operators, and help further develop or create Training Plans for these Positions.
  • Track Production Yields, Perform Mass Balances, Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Statistical Quality Control (SQC) tools.

Qualifications

  • 1+ Years Manufacturing Experience in a Production or Engineering Role
  • 1+ Years Experience of root cause problem solving a plus
  • 1+ Years Experience with MOC/CAPA process a plus
  • 1+ Years Project Management Experience coordinating between various departments/stakeholders
  • Ability to conduct Investigations (Customer Complaints, Off-spec, Equipment Failures, Process Upsets, etc.)
  • Ability to be taught and quickly learn common Unit Operations used in Chemical Manufacturing Industry

Education

  • Bachelors in Chemical Engineering
