Job Description
Stepan Company located in Wilmington, NC is seeking an E&I Technician. The successful candidate comes with prior E&I experience preferrable in utilities operations and chemical manufacturing. Normal work schedule is Monday through Thursday 10hr shift. E&I Technician creates value by safely maintaining the utilities and manufacturing equipment to meet production goals and by taking initiative to expand knowledge in the different types of control systems. The E&I Technician provides operation support plant-wide and performs electrical maintenance on the industrial manufacturing equipment which could include, but not limited to: AC/DC motor controls, calibration of instrumentation, process loop instruments, PLCs, MCCs and switch gear. The E&I craft work is highly independent and requires a self-starter.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in calibrating a variety of instrumentation, including Rosemont devices and other brands, ensuring accurate measurements and reliable operation of process equipment.
- Proficient in maintaining and troubleshooting electrical distribution systems, contributing to safe and efficient plant operations.
- Hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV Distributed Control System (DCS) controllers, including routine maintenance and technical support.
- Skilled in working with programmable logic controller (PLC) software for equipment troubleshooting and maintenance, specifically with Allen Bradley, RSLogix, Siemens, and Mitsubishi PLC.
- Ability to program and troubleshoot a range of VFDs, supporting optimal performance and minimal downtime in manufacturing processes.
- Basic understanding of network protocols such as Profibus, Ethernet IP, Profinet, and OPC, enabling effective communication and integration of control systems.
- Experienced in applying both electrical and mechanical skills to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on process equipment.
- Background in industrial utilities operations or chemical manufacturing environments, contributing valuable sector-specific expertise.
- Working experience with SAP, including practical knowledge for maintenance management and daily operational tasks.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications—including Excel, Word, and Outlook—for documentation and effective communication.
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- A minimum of three years of experience in electrical or instrumentation role at an industrial facility, or related military field
- Instrument calibration experience
- VFD experience
- Knowledge of power distribution sytems
- E&I troubleshooting capability
