Job Description
Stepan is seeking a Technical Manager to join our Operations team in Winder, GA. In this role, you will report to the Plant Manager. The Technical Manager provides technical leadership for the Process Engineers across production areas, assuring that EH&S, Operations, Quality, and Cost/Productivity targets are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities:
- 4 Process Engineers report to the Technical Manager
- Mentor and develop the Process Engineering team.
- Provide process engineering and technical oversight to new capital project implementation from scope development to commissioning.
- Manage technical process troubleshooting in all production areas.
- Support, develop, and promote the use of the Stepan Quality tools as the vehicle for continuous improvement in the area – i.e., Six Sigma, ISO, SPC/SQC, and OE.
- Participate in the production area’s completeness and depth of root cause and corrective action analyses as they relate to quality to assure thorough investigations and follow through.
- Responsible for performance management of technical team against stated responsibilities.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of relevant work experience in chemical engineering.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience.
- Desire and skills to be upwardly mobile
- Experience with Six Sigma, ISO and/or other structured quality improvement tools.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering Required

Pay range: $120,000 - $180,000
